Exercise 1 Free-writing

Take a timer, set it to 30 minutes. Take a random writing prompt (and use whatever the first suggestion is). Don’t think about it. Just write until the alarm goes off.

Exercise 2 Practice Openers

Write an opening line or paragraph. Try to think about it as little as possible, just write one liners. If one of them hits home in a particular way, feel free to abandon the exercise and write a short story or concept description to capture the idea that sprung to mind.
